JL Racing was proud to serve as the official kit supplier of The Boat Race, supporting one of the most historic and fiercely contested rivalries in sport. Across Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4, the long-standing competition between Oxford and Cambridge was reignited, bringing together athletes, spectators, and rowing enthusiasts for an unforgettable weekend on the water.

The action began on Friday with the Youth Boat Race, where the next generation of rowing talent took centre stage. Eight crews of young athletes competed on the same iconic stretch of water that would later host the Oxford and Cambridge crews. With nearly 100 athletes representing 14 schools, the racing was intense, showcasing both exceptional skill and determination. Hosted by Fulham Reach Boat Club, the event provided a valuable platform for young rowers to experience high-level competition and the prestige associated with The Boat Race. Following the youth events, the excitement continued with the Veteran and Lightweight Boat Races later that day. These races brought together experienced competitors and specialist crews, each delivering highly competitive performances. The lightweight category, in particular, highlighted the speed, precision, and technical excellence that define this discipline, while the veteran races celebrated the enduring passion for rowing across generations. More information can be found here

Saturday marked the pinnacle of the weekend, featuring the Women’s and Men’s Boat Races. These headline events drew widespread attention, with both universities battling fiercely for victory in front of a captivated audience. Between these races, the Women’s and Men’s reserve crews also took to the water, adding further depth and excitement to the day’s schedule. Each race contributed to the electric atmosphere, as supporters lined the banks and tuned in to witness every moment.  Coverage can be found here, and more information can be found here.

Beyond the racing, JL Racing helped bring the rowing community together through a joint activation at Fulham Pier, in collaboration with Rowcave and Kinetica. This interactive experience invited passersby to test their own abilities in a 250m erg simulation competition. The activation proved hugely popular, with over 85 participants taking part throughout the day. Competitors pushed themselves for top times across four categories, with winners earning a custom-made JL Racing unisuit as their prize. The event also created a lively social hub, where visitors could pause to watch the races live on screen, cheer on participants, and engage with the sport in a hands-on way.

From emerging youth talent to elite university crews, and from on-water racing to community engagement, the weekend encapsulated everything that makes rowing such a dynamic and inclusive sport. JL Racing was proud to play a part in supporting athletes at every level while contributing to the vibrant atmosphere that defines The Boat Race.
